Year 3 Autumn Term
What are we reading in Year 3 this term?
Please find below the Year 3 Autumn Curriculum Statement, detailing what we will be learning about this term.
Year 3 have been comparing and grouping together different kinds of rocks on the basis of their appearance and simple physical properties. They have been encouraged to describe in simple terms how fossils are formed when things that have lived are trapped within rocks. They can recognise that soils are made from rocks and organic matter.
Year 3 have been encouraged to persevere when developing their competencies in key skills and principles such as defending, attacking, sending, receiving and dribbling a ball. They played uneven and then moved onto even sided games. They learnt to work one on one and cooperatively within a team, showing respect for their teammates, opposition and referee. Year 3 enjoyed a great football session with Everton Football Club and showed off their football skills.
Come and See
Year 3, recognised that belonging to a group involves promises and rules and know the meaning of the promises made at Baptism. They researched their favourite ‘saint’ and presented their finding to the class.

They found out about the location, origin in settlements around the Nile, living by the Nile, the role of the Nile in developing belief systems as well as agriculture. How the power structures were linked to the geography of Egypt; how they were sustained through art, writing, belief systems. Ancient Egyptian religion, government, art, great monuments, beliefs about death, farming.
A big thank you to Mrs. Bloor for arranging the trip.
