Reception

Dear Parents,

We are really pleased to tell you that we have had a great start to the new school year. All the children have settled well and we are excited to be starting a new term. Please view the photographs below.

Homework

Your child will be provided with a home-school link book. We would like you to work with your child to fill in one page every weekend. This book is to encourage your child to share with the rest of the class some of their experiences they have outside of school, recent news or show their interests. You can encourage your child to include drawings, photographs and writing. This book is a great way to help your child settle into school and develop their confidence to speak in small groups. The link book will be given out by Wednesday and should be returned to school by the following Monday.

Travelling Teddy Bear

We will also be sending home our class teddy bear (Eddy). When your child is chosen to take him home, tell us about his visit in their home- school link book. We will then encourage your child to show this to the class the following day.

Reading Books

Reading books will be changed twice a week.  Please listen to your child read for 5 minutes each night and practise reading, spelling and writing their keywords. We would like you to make a comment in their reading record so we can check the children have read.

Weekend Challenge

On a Friday your child will be given a maths challenge to be completed at home. These activities are practical and fun. They do not need to be returned to school or put in their home-school link book.

Physical Development

Throughout the week the children will have access to the outdoor provision and every Monday planned physical activities in the school hall.

Thank you for your support,

Mrs Roach and Mrs Fitzgerald.
